Department of Agricultural Machines and Equipment
Department Council Members
In the academic year 1986-1987, the Department was established within the Faculty of Engineering. It continued until 1990, when the Department was transferred to the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry in Hammam Al-Alil. The Department's first name was the Department of Agricultural Mechanization, where the admission of primary studies students into the Department began after specialized curricula were developed for it. Twenty-five students were accepted into the Department as the first mechanization department in Iraqi universities.
In 1987-1988, the Department's acceptance of master studies began, and four master's students were accepted into the Department. The first batch of master's students graduated in 1989, and the first batch of primary students graduated in 1990. In 1995-1996, the Department's acceptance of doctoral studies began. Deanship changed the Department's name to the Department of Agricultural Machines and Equipment in 2010, and the Department is still graduating many undergraduate and postgraduate students so far.
The department's mission contributes to the achievement, discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge to efficiently manage human and agricultural resources for sustainable development in the farm field. It is also concerned with preparing qualified cadres for the development of agricultural production, rural communities, and community service by carrying out applied research to find engineering solutions to the problems facing the farm field. The department conducts training and follow-up work and shares its scientific and research activity locally, regionally, and internationally.
The department aims to contribute with other scientific departments in the college in preparing agricultural professionals, researchers, and planners in all fields and specializations by providing them with knowledge development in everything related to agricultural engineering technology.
1 - To provide an academic climate to develop the capabilities of faculty members and their assistants to perform their mission to the fullest extent, which helps the student in the field of agricultural engineering to develop learning skills and continuous self-learning.
2- To develop educational methods for excellence and provide the community with qualified cadres to expand agricultural production, preserve environmental resources, serve and grow the community, integrate into agricultural production programs, and face competitions in their local, regional, and international fields.
3- To stimulate scientific research to find appropriate solutions to the obstacles and developments obstructing agricultural production.
