The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics \u2013 University of Mosul discussed the doctoral dissertation entitled:
\n“The Role of Monetary and Fiscal Policies in Achieving Economic Stability in Iraq.”<\/p>\n

The study, presented by the doctoral candidate Ali Abdul-Hussein Habib from the Department of Economics, aimed to shed light on the role that monetary and fiscal policies play in achieving economic stability in Iraq. It highlighted the points of convergence and divergence between these two types of policies and proceeded to measure and analyze the impact of monetary policy tools\u2014namely, the rediscount rate, legal reserve ratio, and open market operations\u2014as well as fiscal policy tools\u2014tax revenues, public spending, and public debt\u2014on economic stability indicators represented by inflation rate, unemployment rate, and GDP in the case of Iraq.<\/p>\n

The study reached a number of conclusions, the most significant of which is that monetary policy tools play a substantial role in achieving long-term economic stability in Iraq, primarily through their impact on inflation, followed by GDP, and then unemployment. In the short term, these tools contribute to stability mainly through their influence on GDP first, inflation second, and unemployment third.<\/p>\n

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mufid Dhanoun Younis, and included the following members: Asst. Prof. Dr. Burhan Othman Hussein from the University of Kirkuk. Asst. Prof. Dr. Laura Basim Saour from the University of Al-Hamdaniya . Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khidr Abtan. Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Fadhil Hammadi and Asst. Prof. Dr. Aws Fakhruddin Ayoub, as both a member and the supervisor.<\/p>\n
