Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul, the Department of Management Information Systems held an awareness workshop titled \u201cAddiction and Drug Prevention\u201d on the morning of Thursday, November 27, 2025, in Laboratory No. (1).<\/p>\n

The workshop was presented by fourth-year students Iman Ahmed Hamed and Aya Younis Ibrahim, who discussed\u2014scientifically and comprehensively\u2014the dangers of addiction, its psychological, social, and health effects, and methods of prevention, with a particular focus on protecting young people from behaviors that threaten their academic and professional futures.<\/p>\n

The workshop also included a training component aimed at developing students\u2019 skills in risk analysis and adopting preventive behaviors. An interactive segment allowed students to engage through discussions and questions, contributing to a deeper and more conscious understanding of the workshop\u2019s topic.<\/p>\n

The workshop concluded with a presentation by the Head of the Department of Management Information Systems, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ramadan Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, who highlighted indicators of addiction prevalence and emphasized the need for unified academic and societal efforts to combat it.<\/p>\n

This workshop was organized in coordination with the Psychological Counseling Unit at the college, in support of programs aimed at raising students\u2019 awareness and promoting a culture of self-protection within the university campus. It aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which focuses on reducing risky behaviors and safeguarding the health of individuals and the community.<\/p>\n

The workshop witnessed the attendance of several faculty members and students, with noticeable engagement that reflected students\u2019 awareness of the importance of cognitive and behavioral prevention in facing contemporary risks.<\/p>\n
