The University of Mosul \u2013 College of Administration and Economics \u2013 Department of Business Administration witnessed, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the discussion of a Higher Diploma thesis entitled: \u201cThe Role of Absorptive Capacity in Enhancing Strategic Sovereignty: An Exploratory Study of the Opinions of a Sample of University Leaders in Private Colleges \/ Nineveh\u201d
\nThe thesis was submitted by the student Idris Sameer Taha Al-Yaseen and was discussed in Discussion Hall No. (2).
\nThe study aimed to diagnose the role played by absorptive capacity, through its dimensions, in enhancing strategic sovereignty. It also investigated this role within the environment of private higher education institutions in Nineveh Governorate by surveying the opinions of university leaders. Furthermore, the study presented a theoretical framework addressing the dimensions of absorptive capacity (acquisition, assimilation, transformation, and exploitation), along with the dimensions of strategic sovereignty, and examined the levels of each.
\nThe study concluded that building strategic sovereignty requires integration among the processes of knowledge acquisition, assimilation, transformation, and exploitation. The absence of any of these dimensions limits the ability of private higher education institutions to compete and exert influence, particularly in light of the rapid environmental and educational changes in Nineveh Governorate. This emphasizes the importance of knowledge integration and alignment with the environmental context.
