The College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul \u2013 Department of Economics \u2013 hosted on Sunday, May 3, 2026, defense of a Master\u2019s thesis in Discussion Hall No. (2), entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cMeasuring and Analyzing the Relationship between Government Expenditure and Selected Monetary Economic Variables in Selected Developing Countries\u201d<\/p>\n

by the student: Muzahim Salah Daboon Al-Obaidi.<\/p>\n

The study aimed to analyze the impact of government expenditure on key monetary economic variables\u2014namely inflation, exchange rate, and money supply\u2014in a number of developing countries, including Iraq, South Africa, Brazil, and Malaysia. It also sought to identify the direction and nature of this relationship, and to determine whether government spending acts as a primary explanatory factor for fluctuations in these variables or interacts with them within a broader economic system.<\/p>\n

The main findings of the study include:<\/p>\n

Government expenditure has lost its negative impact on inflation in the countries under study, thereby supporting the research hypothesis.<\/p>\n

There are clear trends in the selected countries toward adopting comprehensive fiscal and monetary reforms aimed at integrating monetary and fiscal policies, although these efforts are still in their early stages.<\/p>\n
