Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Professor Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences, in cooperation with the Department of Economics, held on Monday, May 4, 2026, a scientific workshop entitled:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Closure of the Strait of Hormuz and Its Implications for the Iraqi and Global Economy\u201d<\/p>\n

The workshop took place at 10:00 AM in Discussion Hall No. (1) at the College of Administration and Economics.<\/p>\n

The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Hashim Mohammed Al-Arkoub, while Assistant Professor Dr. Mayada Salah Al-Din Taj Al-Din served as the session rapporteur.<\/p>\n

The workshop included three research papers addressing the economic, financial, and geopolitical dimensions associated with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its repercussions for Iraq and the world. The first paper, entitled: \u201cFinancing Salaries and Wages and the Risks of Oil Dependence: A Scenario of the Closure of the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d<\/p>\n

was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Uday Salem Ali.<\/p>\n

The second paper, entitled: \u201cThe Implications of the Closure of the Strait of Hormuz for the Iraqi Economy,\u201d<\/p>\n

was jointly presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Wajeeh Mahdi and Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Waheed Hassan.<\/p>\n

The third paper addressed: \u201cThe Strait of Hormuz and the Reshaping of the Global Economy,\u201d<\/p>\n

and was presented by Lecturer Nawwar Kanaan Al-Dabbagh and Assistant Lecturer Ibtisam Tariq Dabbou.<\/p>\n

The workshop was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Salem Khalil Khalid, along with a number of faculty members from both departments and administrative staff. It featured in-depth scientific discussions on potential economic scenarios and the impact of geopolitical crises on energy markets and both the Iraqi and global economies.<\/p>\n

This event comes as part of the efforts of the College of Administration and Economics \/ University of Mosul to promote scientific dialogue on contemporary economic issues and to link academic perspectives with rapidly evolving regional and international challenges.<\/p>\n
