The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, a Master’s thesis titled: “Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of the Sectoral Composition of Economic Growth on Poverty: A Comparative Study Between Countries with Varying Income Levels,” submitted by the student Eman Khalil Ibrahim, in Discussion Hall No. (2).<\/p>\n

\u200bThe study aimed to analyze the impact of the sectoral composition of economic growth on poverty rates through a comparative study that included middle-income and high-income countries during the period (2000\u20132024). It relied on modern econometric models to measure the nature of the relationship between poverty and the sectoral shares of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), alongside several influential economic variables.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe study reached a set of important conclusions, most notably that the impact of economic growth on poverty reduction varies depending on the sectoral composition of growth and the stage of economic development of the countries. The results showed that growth in the agricultural sector plays a more effective role in reducing poverty rates in middle-income countries, whereas the impact of the industrial and service sectors was more pronounced in high-income countries, reflecting the importance of guiding economic policies according to the structural characteristics of each economy.<\/p>\n
