The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed on Sunday, June 14, 2026, a Master’s thesis titled: “<\/b>Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Selected Macroeconomic Variables on Economic Misery in Chosen Countries.” The thesis was submitted by the student, Zainab Khalaf Ahmed Al-Jubouri, and defended in Discussion Hall No. (1).<\/p>\n

\u200bThe study aimed to explore the economic literature related to economic misery and analyze the relationship between the economic misery index and several influential macroeconomic variables. By utilizing appropriate tables, charts, and econometric methods, the research seeks to provide scientifically grounded indicators to support economic decision-makers.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe study reached a set of conclusions, most notably that government spending and domestic credit provided to the private sector had a statistically significant positive impact on the economic misery index. In the long run, government spending contributed to an increase in both the economic misery index and the public budget deficit. Conversely, the expansion of domestic credit\u2014particularly when consumer-driven\u2014led to increased inflationary pressures and a higher economic misery index in the short term.<\/p>\n
