\u00a0The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research at the University of Mosul organized a workshop on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, titled:<\/h3>\n

“The Role of Agricultural Mechanization in Conservation Agriculture.”<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop lectures were delivered by:Lecturer Dr. Mahmoud Awad Hussein, Lecturer Dr. Adnan Abdul Ahmed\u00a0 and Assistant Lecturer Dhakir Jassim Muhammad.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop highlighted the types of cultivators (ploughs) used in no-till farming systems (conservation agriculture). The selection of the appropriate cultivator depends on planting depth, crop type, soil type and moisture, and the quantity and quality of crop residues. The workshop also covered ideal performance requirements for cultivators in no-till systems, including minimal soil disturbance to ensure proper seedbed preparation, optimal crop growth, and minimum pulling force requirements. These requirements are influenced by several factors, including the cultivator\u2019s geometric design, soil type, soil physical condition, and operational conditions.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop aimed to evaluate the performance of straight and curved cultivators under different operational conditions in clay soil, enhancing the efficiency of conservation agriculture and improving land productivity.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:Goal 2 (Zero Hunger): Supporting research that contributes to improving agricultural productivity and food security.Goal 4 (Quality Education): Developing researchers\u2019 skills and enhancing scientific and technical training. Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): Strengthening research capacities that support the growth of the agricultural sector and create sustainable jobs. Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): Promoting scientific collaboration between research centers and agricultural sectors.<\/h3>\n
