\u00a0A farmer from Diyala Governorate visited the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research<\/strong> at the University of Mosul to learn about conservation agriculture techniques<\/strong>, their field applications, and the differences between these methods and traditional farming practices, with the aim of transferring and applying this experience in Diyala\u2019s farmlands following the successes achieved by this technique in several regions of Iraq<\/strong>.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 On February 15, 2026<\/strong>, the farmer was received by the Center\u2019s Director, Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Al-Taweel<\/strong>, who provided a detailed explanation of the principles of conservation agriculture. These principles focus on reducing soil tillage, leaving crop residues in the field, which helps reduce water and fuel consumption, maintain soil fertility, prevent erosion, lower input costs, and maximize outputs<\/strong>, especially under drought conditions and climate change challenges.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The visit included a guided tour of the center\u2019s facilities and storage areas, where the farmer observed practical models of mechanization and the technologies used in this agricultural system, along with discussions on ways to transfer and implement the experience for farmers in Diyala Governorate.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 This visit aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/strong>, particularly Goal 2 (Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture)<\/strong>, as well as Goal 13 (Climate Action)<\/strong>, by adopting agricultural techniques that reduce natural resource depletion and help address the impacts of climate change while promoting sustainable agricultural production.<\/h3>\n
