\u00a0 The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research at University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Human Rights Division at the University Presidency, organized a workshop entitled \u201cProperty Rights and Their Impact on the Stability of Agricultural Communities\u201d<\/em> on Sunday, February 22, 2026. The event was attended by a number of researchers, academics, and individuals interested in agricultural and legal affairs.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop lectures were delivered by Professor Dr. Salem Hamadi Antar, Head of the Agronomy Department at the Center; Lecturer Dr. Islam Abdul Sattar Al-Rajbo; and Agricultural Engineer Iman Akram Abdul Hakim. The presentations addressed the legal, social, and economic dimensions of agricultural property rights and their role in achieving community stability.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop emphasized that property rights are not merely individual legal entitlements, but rather a fundamental pillar for the stability and prosperity of agricultural communities. Secure land ownership provides economic security, reduces disputes, and encourages investment and productivity. Historically, it has been closely linked to the emergence of agricultural stability and the transition of human societies from nomadic life to settled farming.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The lectures further highlighted that strengthening systems for protecting agricultural property rights represents a key component of sustainable development, as it contributes to building economically, socially, and environmentally stable communities and promotes long-term agricultural investment.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 This workshop aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals, most notably:<\/h3>\n

Goal 1: No Poverty<\/strong> \u2014 as land ownership enables rural families to secure a stable and sustainable source of income. Goal 5: Gender Equality<\/strong> \u2014 by ensuring women\u2019s agricultural property rights and strengthening their economic and social roles. Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth<\/strong> \u2014 since secure ownership encourages investment in the agricultural sector and creates job opportunities. Goal 15: Life on Land<\/strong> \u2014 as clear land tenure supports sustainable land management and the conservation of natural resources.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 This event comes within the Center\u2019s ongoing efforts to enhance legal and research awareness regarding land and agricultural issues, and to support policies that contribute to food security and social stability in agricultural communities.<\/h3>\n
