\u00a0 Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, Chancellor of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning \/ Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, the Center organized a workshop entitled \u201cDiagnosis of Weed Species \u0440\u0430\u0441\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0441\u0442\u0440\u0430\u043d in Nineveh Governorate\u201d on Monday, April 20, 2026. The workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Salim H. Antar and Dr. Islam A. Alrijabo, both researchers at the Center.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 The workshop addressed the issue of weeds spread, focusing on the identification of plant species and determining whether these weeds are native or invasive (alien) species. Invasive plants pose a significant threat to biodiversity and are considered among the major environmental challenges facing many regions, including Nineveh Governorate. This phenomenon has intensified in recent years due to neglect and insufficient maintenance of public areas.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop aimed to study and diagnose the prevalent weed species, identify their types, assess their impact on the environment and agricultural productivity, and propose appropriate solutions to mitigate their adverse effects.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 The lectures of this workshop align with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:<\/h3>\n

Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), Goal 13 (Climate Action), and Goal 15 (Life on Land).<\/h3>\n
