\u00a0 Assistant Lecturer Nada Younis Taher (researcher at the AFCAR Center) delivered a scientific lecture titled “The Role of Phytoremediation in the Rehabilitation of the Khosr River in Nineveh Governorate.” This contribution was part of a specialized scientific symposium entitled “Water Quality Study of the Khosr River \u2013 Pollutants and Treatment Methods,” organized by the Environmental Research Center in collaboration with the University of Mosul Presidency \/ Department of Studies and Planning \u2013 Sustainable Development Unit. The symposium took place in the “AFCAR Hall” on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.<\/h3>\n

In her lecture, the researcher discussed the importance of using phytoremediation techniques by planting reeds, papyrus, and a selection of other chosen plants along the sides of the Khosr River. She explained that these plants contribute to filtering pollutants and purifying water, based on previous scientific studies that have confirmed their effectiveness in improving water quality and rehabilitating degraded ecosystems.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 These efforts come in support of sustainable environmental solutions for addressing water pollution and preserving natural resources in Nineveh Governorate.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 This lecture aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including: Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/h3>\n
