\u00a0Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, Chancellor of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning \/ Sustainable Development Unit and Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the Center organized a workshop entitled \u201cEnvironmental Management System\u201d on Thursday, 17 September 2026.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop featured lectures delivered by Professor Dr. Salem Hammadi Antar, Assistant Professor Dr. Islam Abdul-Sattar Al-Rajaboo, Assistant Lecturer Ammar Mahmoud Habib, Lecturer Azhar Omar Ali, and Agricultural Engineer Rasha Hamid Awad.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop provided an accessible overview of the concept of the environment and its fundamental components, while highlighting the importance of environmental protection. It also examined various forms of human misuse of natural resources and environmental components, together with the resulting environmental and social impacts.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The discussions further addressed major environmental problems arising from unsustainable practices, particularly global warming and desertification, and their consequences for human lives and livelihoods, including floods, drought, and displacement. The workshop also highlighted the expansion of sand dunes and sand encroachment, which can cause significant damage to agricultural land and negatively affect agricultural production.<\/h3>\n

\u00a0 The workshop is aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger; SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation; SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; SDG 13: Climate Action; and SDG 15: Life on Land.<\/h3>\n
