A workshop at the College of Archeology entitled (modern archaeological work at the Lagash site)
\nThe College of Archeology\/University of Mosul held the workshop entitled \u201cModern archaeological work at the site of Lagash – Tulul Al-Haba – in southern Iraq,\u201d which was delivered by Dr. (Zaid Ismail Al-Rawi) from the American University of Pennsylvania, on Sunday, May 12, 2024, in the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Sof.
\nPart of the workshop was attended by the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and a group of professors and students of graduate and undergraduate studies.
\nIn his workshop, Dr. Zaid Al-Rawi reviewed various aspects of the modern excavation methods conducted by the American mission at the site of the city of Lagash, and addressed the excavation and surface surveying of the archaeological site, methods of photography and thermal sensing, geophysical survey methods, and the process of extracting geological samples for studies of the ancient environment to learn about the lifestyle in ancient times in ancient Mesopotamia, Dr. Zaid stressed the importance of studying the ancient landscape and the surrounding environment and its fruitful results in changing the stereotypical image of research in archaeology.<\/h3>\n
