The doctoral thesis entitled \u201cBronze Pottery in the Arabian Gulf Region – A Study of Cultural Influence\u201d was discussed in the Department of Archeology at the College of Archeology, University of Mosul, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. And in the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Souf.
\nPart of the viva was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, Assistant Dean of the College for Scientific Affairs.
\nThe study presented by the student (Duraid Salim Boulos Benjamin) aimed to demonstrate the cultural importance represented by the Arabian Gulf region in archaeological studies due to its abundance of important antiquities, including pottery, the subject of the study. The study dealt with two main axes, the first: the cultural influence of the Arabian Gulf region on civilizations. The second traced the spread of archaeological sites in the region during the Bronze Age. The study concluded that there is a great cultural influence of Mesopotamia on the Gulf region, especially the western coast, in the field of diversification of pottery making and its artistic styles.
\nThe viva committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Hussein Dhaher Hamoud, and the membership of Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College of Archeology\/ University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Qusay Subhi Abbas from the University of Baghdad, College of Arts\/ Department of Archeology, and Professor Dr. Farouk Nawaf Sarhan from the University of Baghdad\/ College of Fine Arts, Assistant Professor Dr. Heba Hazem Muhammad, under the supervision and membership of the emeritus Professor Dr. Jaber Khalil Ibrahim.<\/h3>\n
