The master\u2019s thesis entitled \u201cMetal finds discovered in the city of Balad (Aski Mosul) and their use in archaeological tourism – an applied study of selected models\u201d was defended in the Department of Archeology at the College of Archeology, University of Mosul, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
\nPart of the viva was attended by Professor Dr. Mounir Salem Taha, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College of Archaeology, and the scientific and administrative assistants to the Dean of the college of Archaeology.
\nThe study presented by the student (Amer Zuhair Khalil) aims to highlight the role of metropolises and cities in Mesopotamia in supplementing Islamic civilization with the products they provided that contributed to completing the foundations of civilization and its successive historical episodes. The study dealt with various models of metal finds in the Iraqi Museum from the city of Balad. (ASCII connector)
\nThe study concluded that the city had a great importance in the field of industries, the most important of which was metallurgy in particular, and that the establishment of these industries was due to an urgent need linked to their use in various areas of daily life.
\nThe viva committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Haitham Qasim Muhammad, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Munther Khader Yaqoub, College of Management and Economics\/University of Mosul, and Dr. Sinan Abd Younis, an expert in the history of Islamic civilization in the State of Qatar\/ Qatar Museums, and with the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Farhan Mahmoud Elias and Professor Assistant Dr. Jarjis Omair Abbas, College of Administration and Economics\/University of Mosul.<\/h3>\n
