The master’s thesis entitled “Shrines in the Northern Baghdad Regions During the 5th and 6th Centuries AH: A Study of Their Architectural and Artistic Characteristics” was discussed by the student (Ismail Khalaf Hussein) from the Department of Archaeology on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. The thesis dealt with burial buildings, one of the main patterns in Islamic architecture, in which people were keen to build buildings on the graves and shrines of saints or righteous men. The importance of this study lies in shedding light on a group of shrines that were subjected to systematic destruction and vandalism. The idea of \u200b\u200bstudying the subject of the thesis came to document some of these buildings and focus on their time periods, planning, and architectural styles.
