The master’s thesis entitled “Urban Expansion of Bab al-Tub during the Ottoman Era – An Architectural Planning Study” was defended by the student Safa Majid Muhammad from the Department of Archaeology on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, in Dr. Bahnam Abu al-Suf Hall. The thesis addressed the geographical importance of Bab al-Tub, its historical depth, and its borders, which extended beyond the walls of the Old City of Mosul. It focused on studying one of the largest neighborhoods in the Old City of Mosul, which occupied a distinguished location extending from the southeastern part to the southwest. It contained numerous archaeological and heritage remains, including religious, educational, economic, commercial, service, and military buildings, as well as government and administrative buildings, dating back to the Ottoman era (921-1336 AH \/ 1515-1918 AD). Its remains are still evident today.
