It gained independent departmental status in <strong>1979<\/strong>. Since its inception, the department has successfully graduated over <strong>1,500 students<\/strong> with a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in French Language and Literature, and more than <strong>50 students<\/strong> with a Master&#8217;s degree in French Language and Literature. Currently, the department has <strong>28 faculty members<\/strong>, the majority of whom hold a <strong>Master&#8217;s degree<\/strong> in French Language and Literature. There are two faculty members with doctoral degrees. Additionally, one faculty member is currently on a scholarship pursuing doctoral studies in <strong>Brest, France<\/strong>. The primary objective of the department is to train graduates at both the <strong>Bachelor&#8217;s and Master&#8217;s levels<\/strong> in French Language and Literature. This aims to meet the country&#8217;s needs for French teachers in secondary schools, as well as for translators and interpreters, and to fulfill the requirements of the job market. <strong>Student Enrollment Trends. <\/strong>The number of students enrolled in the Department of French at the University of Mosul over the last three academic years is as follows:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>2021-2022:<\/strong> 184 students<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>2022-2023:<\/strong> 103 students<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>2023-2024:<\/strong> 70 students<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4><strong>2024-2025:<\/strong> 77 students<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Every year, the Department of French organizes numerous <strong>field visits<\/strong> to schools where French is taught, along with <strong>training courses, seminars, workshops, and scientific festivals<\/strong>.
