The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Media and Journalism at the University of Mosul is a four-year, full-time undergraduate program comprising 240 ECTS credits, fully aligned with the European Bologna Process framework. The program provides students with a rigorous academic and practical foundation in communication theory, media ethics, information verification, and media law, followed by specialized study across core journalistic disciplines: print journalism, broadcast University of Mosul | Department of Media & Journalism (television and radio), digital & multimedia reporting, data journalism, public relations, and strategic communication.
\nThe curriculum seamlessly integrates theoretical knowledge with hands-on newsroom practice, digital media production, field reporting, investigative methods, media analytics, and capstone research projects. Graduates develop strong critical thinking, investigation, narrative storytelling, multimedia editing, and cross-platform publishing competencies required to operate in high-speed, modern newsroom environments and modern digital communication ecosystems. Furthermore, the program prepares graduates for ethical media leadership, digital innovation, lifelong learning, and advanced graduate study while reinforcing social responsibility, objectivity, and community empowerment.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Media Program aims to:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1: Provide students with a comprehensive media education that establishes a strong foundation in communication sciences, news reporting, and critical thinking needed to navigate modern media platforms.
\n2: Prepare graduates for successful careers and postgraduate studies by enhancing their knowledge and ability to produce and manage media content in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
\n3: Develop students’ practical and technical competencies through hands-on studio training, field practice, and the application of modern digital software for producing and editing audio and visual content.
\n4: Enhance graduates’ communication, leadership, and teamwork skills, enabling them to efficiently manage media campaigns and press institutions.
\n5: Promote scientific research, digital innovation, and media literacy, while meeting the demands of the local and international media job markets.
\n6: Professional & Ethical Qualification :Preparing graduates to compete in the job market or pursue postgraduate studies and Building the capacity to produce and manage media content with high efficiency. Upon successful completion of the program requirements, graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Media from the University of Mosul.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Admissions are subject to the Central Admission terms and regulations issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Mosul regarding colleges and departments of Media in Iraq.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

To obtain a Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Media, students must successfully fulfill the following requirements:<\/p>\n

1:Successfully complete all 240 ECTS credits, including all mandatory and elective courses.
\n2:Achieve the minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) required for graduation.
\n3:Complete all practical training requirements, including studio work, field reporting, and summer internship training.
\n4:Comply with all academic rules and regulations issued by the Ministry and the University.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and the transfer of academic credits are considered strictly in cases of student transfers or course equivalencies, in accordance with applicable ministerial and university regulations.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
