On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the History Department at the College of Arts held a PhD dissertation defense for a study titled “Trends in Andalusian Studies in Spanish Orientalism: Al-Qantara Journal as a Model.” The study, presented by student Salih Salim Ibrahim, examines orientalist studies published in Al-Qantara Journal, which serves as an extension of the Spanish journal Al-Andalus, founded in 1933 and specializing in Arab and Islamic studies.
