On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Department of Sociology at the College of Arts held a defense for a Higher Diploma thesis, which is equivalent to a master’s degree. The thesis was titled, “The Role of Care for People with Special Needs in Promoting Social Peace: A Field Study at Al-Noor Institute for the Blind in Mosul.”<\/p>\n

The defense was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Al-Tai, the Head of the Department, Firas Abbas Fadhel, and several faculty members.<\/p>\n

The study, presented by student Vivian Abdul Ghani Hamed Ahmed<\/b>, examined the social care provided to people with disabilities and how this care helps promote social peace.<\/p>\n

The thesis aimed to analyze the impact of caring for people with special needs, specifically the visually impaired, on fostering social peace. It did this by conducting a field study at the Al-Noor Institute for the Blind in Mosul to understand the quality of services provided and the methods used to integrate this group into the community.<\/p>\n
