<\/p>\nAs part of the scientific and cultural activities organized by the College of Arts at the University of Mosul, the Department of History arranged a field visit to the Mosque of Prophet Yunus (Peace Be Upon Him). A number of the department’s faculty and students participated with the aim of observing the Mosque’s current state and monitoring the progress of the reconstruction phases of this ancient historical and religious landmark.<\/p>\n
The delegation was received by Dr. Ahmed Al-Omari, the Engineer overseeing the reconstruction project for both the Mosque and the University. Dr. Al-Omari provided a detailed presentation on the progress of the construction work and the key steps being taken to preserve the Mosque’s distinctive architectural and heritage character, recognizing its status as an important symbol of Mosul’s and the Islamic identity.<\/p>\n
The delegation was accompanied during the visit by Professor Dr. Hatem Fahd Hano Al-Tai, Dean of the College of Arts, and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Saleh Saeed, Head of the Department of History. Both confirmed in their addresses the crucial importance of field visits in enriching students’ historical knowledge and linking the academic component with practical, applied activity on the ground. Students received an extensive explanation regarding the Mosque\u2019s history and its religious and civilizational significance. The discussion concluded with a call to strengthen cooperation between universities and cultural institutions to sustain efforts aimed at preserving the heritage, viewing it as an essential component of the national identity and the collective memory of the city of Mosul.<\/p>\n
