The Department of French at College of Arts held a viva for a Master of Arts thesis entitled “The Use of Social Networking Sites and Digital Applications in Teaching and Learning French as A Foreign Language (Mosul University as A Model),” on September 09, 2021 in the Hall of College of Arts, with the attendance of Professor Dr. Munir Salem Taha, assistant president of the university for scientific affairs, the dean of the College of Arts, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali Muhammad Afin, and a number of faculty members.The thesis submitted by the student (Roaa Basman Ghanem) in the Department of French, dealt with the context of developing teacher’s and student’s skills in teaching\/learning French language as a foreign language through the use of social communication networks and digital applications.The study found out that distance education cannot play a pioneering role in the educational process of French language teaching in Iraq in general, but it should complete and support the mechanisms of attendance education.The study concluded that it is preferable to adopt the blended learning style so that students can acquire the required language skills, as the results we obtained within the model of the Department of French Language at the University of Mosul indicates that the impact of digital education on students varies according to multiple conditions imposed by the reality that they deal with.The viva’s committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Muayad Abbas Abdel Hassan from Cihan University, with the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Khalil Abdel-Baqi from Salah El-Din University and Assistant Professor Dara Hassan Taha, under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Ahmed Hassan Gerges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
