The Department of History at the Faculty of Arts held a viva for a doctoral thesis entitled “THE MUHAMMAD IBN AL-HANAFIYYA AND THEIR ROLE IN PUBLIC LIFE UNTIL THE END OF THE UMAYYAD ERA,” on December 05, 2021 in Ibn al-Atheer Hall of the Faculty of Arts, a part of which was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Muhammad Afin with a group of faculty members and teachers.The thesis submitted by the student (Azhar Hassan Sultan) in the Department of History, dealt with the role of Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiya in being careful not to shed blood, as he remained neutral throughout the period of conflicts.The study sheds light on the role of Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiya’s children in preserving their father’s approach, and they did not deviate from his obedience, so they stayed with him moving from one place to another.The study aimed to clarify the role of the family of Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiya in public life until the end of the Umayyad era, and their keenness on peace and preserving the blood of Muslims and those of other religions living under them.The viva committee was chaired by the experienced Prof. Dr. Hashem Yahya Al-Mallah, and the membership of Prof. Dr. Najman Yassin Abbas, Prof. Dr. Tayeb Salih Allawi from Tikrit University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Qader Ahmed Younis and Assistant Professor Dr. Walid Mustafa Muhammad from the College of Education for Human Sciences at University of Mosul, and under the supervision of And the membership of Prof. Dr. Nayef Muhammad Shabib.
