The College of Basic Education at the University of Mosul discussed a master\u2019s thesis entitled \u201cWomen\u2019s Trade Union and Party Activity in Iraq (1932-1963)\u201d on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the Umm Al-Rabi\u2019in Hall at the college.<\/span><\/p>\n

The thesis submitted by the student (Aya Ahmed Hamid) from the History Department \/ Modern History specialization, studied the union and party activity of Iraqi women during this period. It is a topic worthy of research because it sheds light on the founding stage and the gradual development of women\u2019s participation in public life, including the establishment of women\u2019s associations, participation in party and political work, and involvement in union movements demanding social and economic rights.<\/span>
\nThe study aimed to demonstrate women’s contribution to the trade union and party movement, and to reveal the gradual developments of this role, starting from the initial stage of formation, when women’s participation was limited and restricted to the educated class, through the stage of expansion and organization, which witnessed the widespread involvement of women in public work, and reaching the stage of influential interaction in national political decisions, especially after the revolution of July 14, 1958.<\/span>
\nThe importance of this study also emerges from the fact that it attempts to fill the research gap in the field of women’s studies, by reviewing and analyzing the trade union and party career of Iraqi women over thirty years characterized by fluctuations and conflicts. It also contributes to re-reading the history of Iraq from a broad perspective, in addition to clarifying the nature of the relationship between women and the ruling authority, whether in the royal or republican era, and highlighting the challenges and obstacles that women faced on their path towards political and social empowerment.<\/span>
\nThe study included an introduction, three chapters, and a conclusion. The introductory chapter dealt with the activities of Iraqi women before 1932. The first chapter was entitled \u201cThe Activity of Iraqi Women in Trade Union Work 1932-1963.\u201d The second chapter was devoted to shedding light on the activities of Iraqi women in party work 1932-1958. The third chapter was entitled \u201cThe Activity of Iraqi Women in Party Work 1958.\u201d The conclusion included a set of conclusions that were produced and produced by the study.<\/span><\/p>\n
