The thesis, presented by the student Basheer Issa Mohammed Suleiman from the Department of History \/ Modern History specialization, aimed to provide a comprehensive study of the Peel Commission during the period 1936\u20131939.<\/span><\/p>\n The study presented a historical overview of the role of this royal commission, widely known as the Peel Commission, which proposed in its report and recommendations the partition of Palestine into three regions, in line with the implementation of the Balfour Declaration, issued in 1917, which supported the establishment of a national home for the Jews in Palestine. The report also paved the way for the policy of Jewish immigration to Palestine, according to statistics and land acquisitions intended for establishing Jewish settlements in Palestinian areas.<\/span><\/p>\n Through its four chapters, the thesis concluded that the Great Arab Revolt in Palestine in 1936 was the primary reason behind the formation of this commission. The study reviewed the Palestinian \u0645\u0648\u0642\u0641 as well as the positions of several Arab countries\u2014including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Emirate of Transjordan, Syria, Lebanon, and the countries of the Maghreb\u2014regarding this Arab uprising and the decisions and recommendations of the Peel Commission.<\/span><\/p>\n The thesis also highlighted Britain\u2019s attempts to continue its policy biased toward the Jews and the Zionist movement by holding the London Conference on Palestine and forming the Woodhead Commission in order to fulfill its promises to the Zionists in achieving their national goals in Palestine during 1938\u20131939. However, these attempts ultimately failed. As a result of the strong Palestinian and Arab opposition to these policies, Britain was eventually forced to reconsider its approach to the British Mandate for Palestine, halt Jewish immigration, and restrict the transfer of Palestinian lands to Zionist Jewish groups.<\/span><\/p>\n The thesis defense committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Salem Ahmed, with Prof. Dr. Saad Abdul Aziz Musallat and Asst.
