Under the patronage and in the presence of the Dean of the College of Basic Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Younis Saleh Al-Jarisi, and under the supervision of the Women’s Affairs Committee in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Presidency of the University of Mosul, the college held an awareness and educational seminar entitled:
\n\u00abThe Path to Prevention and Early Detection of Breast Cancer\u00bb on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, as part of promoting community health awareness and establishing a culture of regular screening.<\/p>\n
The workshop included two main themes: the first theme covered the scientific and medical aspects of the disease, where Assistant Professor Dr. Rawaa Tariq Hamid provided a comprehensive explanation of the nature of breast cancer, prominent warning symptoms, stages of development, and the latest available treatment methods and early detection techniques that significantly increase recovery rates.
\nAs for the second theme, presented by Professor Dr. Zikra Youssef, it was dedicated to the psychological and social aspects, highlighting the importance of psychological support for the patient from family, relatives, and friends, and its pivotal role in enhancing response to treatment and strengthening the will to face the disease.<\/p>\n
The workshop witnessed a distinguished attendance of \u00abheroines\u00bb who battled the disease and triumphed over it. Attendees listened to inspiring stories of female patients who overcame breast cancer, presenting live testimonies about their treatment journey, the challenges they faced, and how faith, family support, and early detection played a fundamental role in their victory over the disease.<\/p>\n
On the sidelines of the workshop, an awareness campaign was organized, accompanied by the distribution of guidance brochures explaining the importance of understanding the disease, methods of prevention, and the significance of early detection, alongside practical guidelines on self-examination and regular check-ups, aimed at delivering the awareness message to the largest possible segment of attendees and the community.<\/p>\n
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the necessity of intensifying awareness campaigns, encouraging women to perform self-examinations and regular check-ups, as well as enhancing psychological support programs for patients and their families, thereby contributing to building a more aware and solidaristic society in facing this disease.<\/p>\n
