In a new scientific achievement added to the record of the Department of History at our college,<\/span> a new book entitled:<\/span> “The Ottoman Empire: Historical Pages on Power, Transformation, and Decline”<\/b> has recently been published by Harf Publishing and Distribution House<\/i>. The book is co-authored by faculty members from our college, Dr. Imad Abdul-Aziz Yousif and Lecturer Amin Ghanem Al-Hafo.<\/div>\n
The book explores the journey of one of the greatest empires to rule the Islamic world for more than six centuries. It deeply analyzes the stages of its rise from a small principality on the borders of Byzantium into a vast global empire, passing through the stages of transformation and reform, up to the factors of decline and regression that led to its end.<\/div>\n
The book relies on a critical and balanced historical vision\u2014far from excessive glorification\u2014supported by primary sources to provide readers and researchers with an objective reading of the Ottoman experience and its civilization lessons.<\/div>\n
Alongside the first book, the same authors have published another specialized book entitled: “The Glitter of the Ottoman Sword: From the Heart of Istanbul to the Gates of Rome \u2013 Ottoman Conquests During the Reign of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror (1451\u20131481 AD)”<\/b>.<\/div>\n
This book sheds light on one of the brightest periods in Ottoman and Islamic history: the reign of Sultan Mehmed II (the Conqueror). With his military genius, he achieved the long-standing dream of Muslims by conquering Constantinople in 1453 AD, transforming it into Istanbul, the capital of Islam.<\/div>\n
The book does not stop at the conquest of Constantinople alone; it also traces the Conqueror’s unquenchable ambition and his consecutive campaigns toward the Balkans and Anatolia, reaching the borders of Italy and the gates of Rome, revealing the military and political strategies that made the Ottoman Empire a superpower in the fifteenth century.<\/div>\n
