{"id":38623,"date":"2024-10-27T09:48:59","date_gmt":"2024-10-27T09:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/computerscience\/?p=38623"},"modified":"2024-10-27T09:50:08","modified_gmt":"2024-10-27T09:50:08","slug":"1-73","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/computerscience\/2024\/10\/27\/1-73\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD thesis (Improving Machine Learning Performance for Mining in Unbalanced Big Data) by Shaima Ahmed Razouki Mohammed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Defense of a PhD thesis in the College of Computer Science and Mathematics &#8211; Department of Computer Science<\/p>\n<p>Entitled (Improving Machine Learning Performance for Mining in Unbalanced Big Data)<\/p>\n<p>(( Improving Machine Learning Performance for Imbalanced Big Data Mining<\/p>\n<p>In continuation of the scientific research movement and the follow-up and presence of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah<\/p>\n<p>Discussed in the discussion hall of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Mosul on Sunday 27- 10 &#8211; 2024<\/p>\n<p>PhD thesis (Improving Machine Learning Performance for Mining in Unbalanced Big Data) by Shaima Ahmed Razouki Mohammed under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ghaida Abdulaziz Majeed Al-Talib<\/p>\n<p>The thesis submitted by the student dealt with suggesting ways to improve the performance of machine learning algorithms when classifying unbalanced big data at different percentages of the degree of imbalance, and this was applied to data sets of different dimensions and sizes.<\/p>\n<p>The study dealt with the use of a proposed method to code and reduce the samples of the majority category in order to redistribute the data to obtain a balanced data set, in addition to proposing a new method for selecting features to improve the process of coding and reducing the samples of the majority category. A multi-layered aggregate classification model was also proposed to classify unbalanced data, which falls within the algorithm-level data imbalance solutions.<\/p>\n<p>The study aims to improve the performance of machine learning algorithms when classifying unbalanced data and reduce bias in classification results, which is one of the common problems in data sets at the present time, especially in big data.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Najla Akram Younis<\/p>\n<p>Assoc.
