Under the patronage and supervision of the Dean of the College of Computer Science and Mathematics, Prof. Dr. Duha Bashir Abdullah Al-Bazzaz, the College organized a course titled “Applying Logistic Regression to Study the Prevalence of Drug Abuse Among Youth Using SPSS,” as part of the Continuing Education program for the 2026\u20132027 academic year.<\/p>\n
The course aimed to:<\/p>\n
1. Understand the concept of logistic regression and its importance in social and health studies.<\/p>\n
2. Distinguish between the dependent variable and independent variables in logistic regression models.<\/p>\n
3. Identify the nature of data and variables suitable for applying logistic regression.<\/p>\n
4. Prepare and input data regarding the prevalence of drug abuse into the SPSS software.<\/p>\n
5. Perform appropriate descriptive statistics for the study variables.<\/p>\n
6. Build a logistic regression model using SPSS, step-by-step.<\/p>\n
7. Test the significance of the model and independent variables using appropriate statistical tests.<\/p>\n
8. Identify factors statistically associated with the likelihood of drug abuse among youth.<\/p>\n
9. Evaluate the goodness-of-fit of the logistic regression model and interpret SPSS outputs.<\/p>\n
10. Train participants to present results in statistical tables and figures in a scientific manner.<\/p>\n
