Prof. Dr. Muna Mohammed Taher.

The thesis addressed the challenge inherent in the difficulty and complexity of manual, engineering-based mapping between natural language functional requirements and the derivation of test cases. The facets of this problem are summarized as follows:

Time and Effort Consumption: Relying on manual methods for text analysis and test case derivation requires significant time and effort from development teams.

Susceptibility to Human Error: The quality of the generated test cases is adversely affected by frequent human oversight or errors during requirements interpretation and test formulation.

Subjective Dependency: The process relies entirely on the personal expertise and individual understanding of the tester, leading to inconsistent test coverage.

Limitations of Traditional Approaches in Semantic Understanding: Conventional methods (rule-based and keyword-driven) fail to process linguistic synonyms, diverse contexts, and ambiguous or anomalous requirements (such as orphan use cases).

Gap Between Requirements and Testing: A traditional gap exists between the formulation of free-text requirements and the verification phase, negatively impacting software quality and escalating verification costs.

The thesis aims to address these challenges by developing an AI-powered tool for generating secure test cases from software requirements, thereby fully automating the manual process and bridging the gap between requirements formulation and verification. This intelligent solution reduces human effort and financial overhead while overcoming the limitations of traditional approaches by understanding semantic context and effectively handling ambiguities and edge cases.

The discussion committee consists of

Asst.
