College of Dentistry discussed master thesis entitled ” The effect of acid etch on color changes, surface roughness and microhardness of enamel bleached by hydrogen peroxide activated by different methods: An in vitro study” on 9 September 2024 forwarded by Amina Mamoun Yonus. The study evaluated the effect of acid etch on color changes, surface roughness and microhardness of bleached enamel by hydrogen peroxide. It was proved by the study that acid etching prior to bleaching produced better color changes in both chemical and laser activated bleaching. Surface roughness was increased when acid etching was applied before dental bleaching and the laser activated bleaching resulted in less surface roughness as compared to chemical bleaching. However, acid etching prior to dental bleaching resulted in a significant reduction in microhardness.
