On Monday, July 7, 2025, the Women’s Affairs Committee at the College of Dentistry \/ University of Mosul, in cooperation with the Women’s Affairs Unit at the University Presidency, organized a workshop entitled: “Literacy Eradication in Rural and Remote Areas.”<\/p>\n

The workshop featured a lecture delivered by Assistant Lecturer Maimouna Abdul Kareem Bakr, during which she addressed the importance of literacy eradication, the approved programs in this field, and the challenges encountered during implementation. The session also included a discussion of suggestions aimed at enhancing the success of literacy programs.<\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to shed light on the concept of illiteracy, its causes, and the efforts made to combat it. It also highlighted the major challenges societies face due to the spread of illiteracy, such as lower living standards, weak social and political participation, its negative impact on economic development, rising unemployment rates, and the decline in social cohesion.<\/p>\n

A number of female staff members from the college attended the workshop.<\/p>\n
