Master’s Thesis in the College of Education for Pure Science, Department of Mathematics…

A master’s thesis entitled “The Effect of a Proposed Strategy Based on 21st Century Skills on the Achievement of Mathematics for First-Year Intermediate Female Students and the Development of Their Sustainable Thinking” was discussed in the College of Education for Pure Science at the University of Mosul on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
Part of the thesis was attended by the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Fatehi Ali, and a number of the department faculty members. This study, presented by the student Amina Hussein Saleh Al-Rashidi from the Department of Mathematics, addressed the formulation of two null hypotheses: the first related to mathematics achievement, and the second related to the development of sustainable thinking among first-year middle school students. To verify the two research hypotheses, a purposive sample of first-year middle school students at Al-Risala Intermediate School for Girls in Mosul was selected for the academic year 2024-2025. The total sample size was (65) students. This sample was divided into two groups: one represented the experimental group, consisting of (32) students, and the other represented the control group, consisting of (33) students. Equivalence was applied to the two research groups on the following variables: age, sixth-grade GPA, sixth-grade mathematics score, intelligence score, pre-sustained thinking test, and parents’ academic equivalence. The experimental group was taught according to a proposed strategy based on 21st-century skills, while the control group was taught according to the traditional method.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Enas Younis Mustafa, and Assistant Professor Dr. Azhar Ali Hussein and Assistant Professor Dr. Suleiman Ahmed Younis as members, and Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Obaid Dahawi and Assistant Professor Dr. Younis Hazem Ismail as both members and supervisors.
The Dean of the College presented a letter of thanks and appreciation to Assist. Prof. Dr. Azhar Ali Hussein from the College of Education, University of Zakho, for her participation in the student’s discussion.
The master’s thesis was accepted. Congratulations to the student and her supervisors on this academic achievement.
