Master thesis Viva in the College of Education for Pure Science entitled ” Development of spectrophotometric methods for the determination of a number of drug compounds by applying the reactions of diazo-coupling and oxidation and reduction ”<\/p>\n

The College of Education for Pure Science, University of Mosul, has done the Master thesis Viva entitled ” Development of spectrophotometric methods for the determination of a number of drug compounds by applying the reactions of diazo-coupling and oxidation and reduction ”<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, the College staff including the respected Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Qais Ismail Ibrahim, the Honorable Scientific Associate and Administrative Associate, the Honorable Head of the Department of Chemistry, and a number of the college’s teachers were attended the viv<\/p>\n

This study, presented by the master student<\/p>\n

Massara Naktal Khaleel Yaseen <\/b>in the Department of Chemistry, included the development of two rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric methods for determination of microgram amounts of amisulpride based on the application of diazotization coupling reactions. By using tow reagents iminodibenzyl (IDB) and ferron (7-iodo-8-hydroxyquinoline-5-sulfonic acid). The methods depended on the diazotized of the amisulpride using sodium nitrite in hydrochloric acid medium , and then coupling it with the iminodibenzyl reagent (IDB) in an acidic medium to form a stable azo-violet dye or ferron in sodium carbonate medium to produce a red dye giving maximum absorption at 522 nm which show maximum absorbance at the wavelength of 558 nm. The methods obeyed Beer’s law in the concentrations range 0.4-16 and 0.4-12.8 \u00b5g\/ml.<\/p>\n

The second studied demonstrates the development of easy and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the indirect determination of the drug compounds atenolol, isoniazid and pyridoxine hydrochloride, depending on the oxidation of<\/p>\n

Dr. Zeena Zuhair Salih \u2013University of Mosul\/ College of Education for Pure Science.<\/p>\n
