{"id":39059,"date":"2025-05-29T07:52:42","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T07:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/educationhc\/?p=39059"},"modified":"2025-08-04T07:54:52","modified_gmt":"2025-08-04T07:54:52","slug":"39059","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/educationhc\/2025\/05\/29\/39059\/","title":{"rendered":"Syrian-Israeli Peace Negotiations (1999\u20132009)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Master\u2019s Thesis at the College of Education for Humanities on Syrian-Israeli Peace Negotiations (1999\u20132009)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The College of Education for Humanities at the University of Mosul held a master\u2019s thesis defense titled <em>\u201cThe Syrian-Israeli Peace Negotiations (1999\u20132009)\u201d<\/em> on <strong>Tuesday, May 27, 2025<\/strong>. The session was attended in part by <strong>Prof. Dr. Saad Ramadan Al-Jubouri<\/strong>, Dean of the College, <strong>Prof. Dr. Nidal Mueyyad Mal Allah<\/strong>, Head of the Department, and a number of respected faculty members.<\/p>\n<p>The thesis, presented by <strong>Ali Mohammed Jabir Hillab<\/strong>, examined the Syrian-Israeli negotiations beginning with the rise of <strong>Ehud Barak<\/strong> to power in May 1999, who prioritized the Syrian track\u2014unlike his predecessor <strong>Benjamin Netanyahu<\/strong>, under whose leadership negotiations had stalled. The study concluded with the year 2009, which witnessed the return of the Likud Party and Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s resumption of leadership in Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The research first provided background on negotiations from <strong>1990 to May 1999<\/strong>. The first chapter then addressed the talks held between <strong>May and December 1999<\/strong>, while the second chapter covered developments between <strong>January and June 2000<\/strong>. The third chapter examined the impact of international political changes on negotiations during the <strong>2000\u20132005<\/strong> period, and the fourth chapter focused on the nature of the negotiations between <strong>2006 and 2009<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The thesis aimed to shed light on the course of the peace negotiations, including secret meetings and negotiation rounds between Syria and Israel, the role of the United States up to June 2000, and the issues discussed during that period.
