<\/i><\/i><\/span>Programme Description<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

The Bachelor\u2019s program in Communications and Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering at the University of Mosul is a four-year undergraduate engineering program designed to prepare specialized engineers in modern communications, networking, signal processing, embedded and digital systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), AI-enabled communications, and cybersecurity.<\/p>\n

The program combines fundamental engineering, science, and mathematics with communications and digital-system topics and emphasizes analytical problem solving, engineering design, experimentation, data analysis, programming, teamwork, professional responsibility, and lifelong learning. The Department\u2019s academic direction also emphasizes smart connectivity, digital transformation, secure intelligent technologies, applied research, innovation, consultancy, community service, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

The Department has adopted the Bologna Education System and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), with implementation beginning in the 2025\u20132026 academic year. In the supplied Level 1 study plan, each semester carries 30 ECTS credits, for a total of 60 ECTS credits in the first academic level. Learning is delivered through theory, tutorials, laboratory and practical activities, programming exercises, projects, discussion, and other module-specific activities.<\/p>\n

The program structure stated in the academic-program document comprises institution requirements, college requirements, department requirements, and summer training. The document lists 3 institution-requirement courses (6 credit hours; 4.5%), 5 college-requirement courses (14 credit hours; 10.4%), 42 department-requirement courses (114 credit hours; 85.1%), plus summer training.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Communications and Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering Program aims to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Prepare professional engineers specialized in communications, networking, signal processing, embedded and digital systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), AI-enabled communications, and cybersecurity, capable of meeting modern labor-market needs and contributing to national development.<\/li>\n
  2. Develop postgraduate and specialized engineering cadres (MSc\/PhD) in communications and intelligent digital systems to strengthen research capacity and technical leadership.<\/li>\n
  3. Provide academic, scientific, and applied consultancy services to the public, mixed, and private sectors through cooperation agreements and the College of Engineering consultancy structures.<\/li>\n
  4. Conduct applied and innovative research that contributes to solving engineering, industrial, and digital-transformation problems, with measurable impact and publishable outcomes in reputable journals and conferences.<\/li>\n
  5. Disseminate and transfer modern technological advances to engineers and practitioners through continuing education, professional training courses, workshops, and specialized short programs.<\/li>\n
  6. Develop faculty capabilities and international engagement through conference participation, joint research, seminars, collaborative workshops, and academic exchange with regional and global institutions, while also contributing to organizing scientific events locally and internationally.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    <\/i><\/i><\/span>Awarded Qualification<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

    Upon successful completion of the approved undergraduate program requirements, graduates are awarded a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Communications and Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering by the University of Mosul. The College of Engineering lists the Department of Communications and Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering as offering a four-year Bachelor\u2019s degree program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    <\/i><\/i><\/span>Qualification Level<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

    The program is classified at Level 6 of the Iraqi National Qualifications Framework (INQF), or its equivalent, in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

    <\/i><\/i><\/span>Specific Admission Requirements<\/span><\/a><\/h4><\/div>

    Admission to the Department of Communications and Intelligent Digital Systems Engineering is determined through the official admission plan according to the Department\u2019s capacity. The Scientific Committee determines the required number of new students, and the proposal is forwarded to the College, University, and Ministry for the required approvals.<\/p>\n
