{"id":39305,"date":"2025-02-27T17:40:46","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T17:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/engineering\/?p=39305"},"modified":"2025-03-04T10:45:56","modified_gmt":"2025-03-04T10:45:56","slug":"39305","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/engineering\/2025\/02\/27\/39305\/","title":{"rendered":"Master Thesis in department of Civil Engineering on &#8220;Traffic Performance Assessment for Multilane Highways in Mosul City&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A master thesis was discussed in department of Civil Engineering \/ College of Engineering at University of Mosul entitled &#8220;Traffic Performance Assessment for Multilane Highways in Mosul City&#8221; submitted by the student ( Asmaa Majed Abdulrazzaq ) on Thursday Feb. 27, 2025 .<\/p>\n<p>The thesis aimed to assessing the traffic performance of eight multi-lane road segments in the left coast of Mosul city by: Utilizing the HCM 2022 methodology to assess the Level of Service (LOS) for the current situation (2023) and future projections (2030). Comparing data collection methods: the Moving Car Method (MCM) versus stationary methods using cameras and radars. Developing models at the macroscopic, microscopic, and mesoscopic levels of traffic characteristics.<\/p>\n<p>The Thesis dealt with Enhancing transportation quality, identifying existing traffic issues, and proposing effective solutions to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.<\/p>\n<p>The assessment results indicate that some roads currently operate at LOS E, with some expected to reach F by 2030, signaling significant traffic deterioration.<br \/>\nRoads such as Al-Baladiyat Road and Al-Muharibeen Road towards Al-Abbadi Roundabout are projected to experience severe congestion in the future, necessitating urgent measures.<br \/>\nData analysis revealed that the Moving Car Method (MCM) is accurate and effective compared to stationary data collection methods, making it a more efficient alternative.<br \/>\nThe developed models highlight the relationships between traffic flow, speed, density, time headway, and spacing, emphasizing the need for improved traffic management
