{"id":39494,"date":"2025-04-29T18:34:41","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T18:34:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/engineering\/?p=39494"},"modified":"2025-05-01T18:37:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-01T18:37:18","slug":"39494","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uomosul.edu.iq\/en\/engineering\/2025\/04\/29\/39494\/","title":{"rendered":"Research Presentation by College of Engineering in an International Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Assistant Professor Dr. Adnan Mohammad Abdullah Al-Safawi from Department of Mechanical Engineering, along with Lecturer Dr. Younis Mahal Najim, Head of the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering, and Master\u2019s student Saba Riyad Al-Rifa\u2019i from\u00a0 Department of Mechanical Engineering, participated in the Second International Conference on Sustainable Development Technologies. The event was organized by the Northern Technical University in collaboration with several Iraqi and international universities, and it took place in Alanya, Turkey, from April 28 to 29, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The research team presented a scientific paper titled \u201cEffective Methods for Surface Roughening to Enhance the Performance of Double-Tube Heat Exchangers: A Scientific Review.\u201d The study focused on improving the thermal efficiency of heat exchangers, given their importance in cooling and air conditioning systems, as well as various other industrial applications. The paper discussed several approaches used in recent scientific research to improve performance, including the use of tubes with rough surfaces through various roughening techniques, which resulted in increased heat transfer rates despite the higher pressure drop required.<\/p>\n<p>The study also explored the role of adding fins to the inner or outer surface of the internal tube to enhance thermal performance. It was found that the height of the fins, their thickness, and the spacing between them directly impacted the efficiency of performance.<\/p>\n<p>The results indicated that the presence of cavities, indentations, and branched structures with different geometric shapes on the inner surface of the tube contributes to an increase in the heat transfer coefficient and friction factor compared to smooth tubes.
