Department of Civil Engineering<\/strong> at College of Engineering, University of Mosul<\/strong>, held a master\u2019s thesis defense in the field of Structural Engineering<\/strong> on Thursday, May 29, 2025<\/strong>, titled: \u201cThe Use of Sheep Wool Fibers in Reinforced Concrete Beams\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The thesis, submitted by Hussein Fahmi Yousif<\/strong>, explored the possibility of using sheep wool fibers in reinforced concrete beams.
The session was attended by Professor Dr. Moataz Abduljabbar Al-Obaidi<\/strong>, Head of Civil Engineering Department, along with a number of faculty members.<\/p>\n

The research aimed to investigate the enhancement of concrete properties through the addition of natural animal fibers, such as sheep and goat wool<\/strong>, as well as synthetic fibers like glass fibers<\/strong> and recycled steel fibers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The results showed a significant increase<\/strong> in both compressive and tensile strength of concrete with the use of sheep wool fibers. The concrete’s stiffness<\/strong> and plasticity index<\/strong> also increased by 30%<\/strong>.
On the other hand, the study found that goat wool fibers had a negative impact<\/strong> on the concrete\u2019s properties.<\/p>\n
