Department of Computer Engineering at College of Engineering, University of Mosul, held a master’s thesis defense for the thesis titled \u201cEnhancing the Security of the AODV Routing Protocol Using Artificial Intelligence\u201d on Sunday, June 01, 2025 .<\/strong><\/p>\n

The thesis, submitted by student Zainab Bashar Ibrahim<\/strong>, focused on building an effective system using artificial intelligence models to detect and counter black hole and wormhole attacks<\/strong>. The main objective of the research was to develop an intrusion detection system for these attacks by utilizing a dataset as input to train advanced AI models, including Support Vector Machines (SVM)<\/strong> and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The results demonstrated exceptional performance<\/strong> of the proposed BWADS<\/strong> (Black and Wormhole Attack Detection System). The SVM model<\/strong> achieved a detection accuracy of 99.96%<\/strong>, while the CNN model<\/strong> showed superiority in identifying combined attacks<\/strong>. The thesis also involved analyzing key performance metrics such as network throughput, delay, received traffic, and packet loss<\/strong>, to assess the impact of these types of attacks.<\/p>\n
