Department of Dams and Water Resources Engineering at College of Engineering organized a training course entitled “Using of HEC-HMS Model to Estimate Sediment Volume in Rainwater Harvesting Reservoirs”<\/strong> on Monday, June 16, 2025. The course lasted for five days from its scheduled starting date.<\/p>\n

The course was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Yousif Hashem Al-Uqaili, Assistant Professor Dr. Saleh Mohammed Saleh Zakaria, Assistant Lecturer Ali Ahmed Abdulhadi, Assistant Lecturer Abdulghani Khalaf Mohammed, and Assistant Lecturer Omar Kanaan Taha. They presented a series of lectures aimed at enhancing knowledge and competence in the use of engineering software in the field of water resources.<\/p>\n

The course covered an overview of the HEC-HMS program, building a preliminary model, as well as applying and running the model. It also included the analysis of rainfall-runoff simulation results and sedimentation in the rainwater harvesting reservoir, estimation of sediment quantities and types, in addition to a general introduction to hydrological modeling. A final test was administered to the participants at the end of the course.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
