Under the patronage of President of University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi<\/strong>, and the supervision of Dean of College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon<\/strong>, College of Engineering, represented by Division of Media and Government Communication and the Academic Promotions Unit, organized its fourth scientific Symposium for the academic year 2025\u20132026 entitled \u201cPreparing Academic Promotion Files According to the Requirements of the Electronic System.\u201d<\/strong> The Symposium <\/strong>was held on Sunday, May 24, 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Mohammed Hamdoon<\/strong>, the Chairman of the Central Academic Promotions Committee, Professor Dr. Akram Mahmoud Hussein Al-Badw<\/strong>, members of College Council, members of the Central Academic Promotions Committee, and a large number of faculty members and researchers.<\/p>\n

This Symposium <\/strong>was organized as part of College of Engineering\u2019s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Symposium <\/strong>commenced with opening remarks delivered by Dean of College of Engineering, followed by a speech from the Chairman of the Central Academic Promotions Committee at the University of Mosul.<\/p>\n

The first session was chaired by Professor Dr. Moataz Abduljabbar Al-Obaidi<\/strong>, with Assistant Professor Dr. Hala Jassim Mohammed<\/strong> serving as rapporteur. The session featured a lecture entitled \u201cOrganizing and Managing Academic Promotion Files through the Electronic System,\u201d<\/strong> presented by Professor Dr. Ayman Abdulhadi Abdulmawjood<\/strong> and Ms. Amina Ahmed Khalil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The second session included a lecture entitled \u201cAssessing the Quality and Credibility of Scientific Journals for Research Submitted for Academic Promotion,\u201d<\/strong> delivered by Professor Dr. Rabee Mowafaq Hachem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the seminar, certificates of appreciation were presented to a number of members of the Central Academic Promotions Committee and the Subcommittee of Academic Promotions at the College of Engineering.<\/p>\n

The Symposium <\/strong>aimed to introduce the mechanisms for preparing academic promotion files in accordance with the electronic system requirements, explain the procedures for data entry and uploading scientific documents and outputs, and enhance the skills of faculty members and researchers in using electronic systems related to academic promotions.<\/p>\n

In addition, the seminar addressed the regulations and guidelines governing the evaluation of research outputs and academic activities included in promotion files. It emphasized reducing administrative and technical errors that may lead to delays or rejection of promotion applications, facilitating the monitoring and completion of promotion procedures in line with digital transformation initiatives within academic institutions, and improving academic and administrative performance through the adoption of modern and unified electronic systems.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the seminar, several important recommendations were issued, including:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Encouraging faculty members to carefully review their promotion applications before submission to facilitate the work of scientific committees and promotion committees and to expedite the review process by the Central Academic Promotions Committee.<\/li>\n
  2. Directing scientific committees to thoroughly examine promotion applications before forwarding them to college promotion committees, with particular attention to specialization, journal quality, and publishing standards.<\/li>\n
  3. Raising awareness among researchers about the importance of publishing in reputable, non-predatory, and non-hijacked scientific journals that comply with the requirements of the current academic promotion regulations, while verifying publishers before submitting manuscripts.<\/li>\n
  4. Developing a structured plan to guide researchers in preparing promotion applications and identifying the key points that should be reviewed before submission.<\/li>\n
  5. Emphasizing the inclusion of names, signatures, and dates on all official documents requiring committee endorsements. Members of scientific committees who have co-authored research papers or activities submitted within a promotion file should be exempted from signing documents related to that promotion application.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
