Under the supervision of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, and the membership of the Dean of the College of Environmental Sciences, Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, the discussion of the master’s thesis of the student Raghad Nazir Ahmed Younis Al-Taie took place this morning, Tuesday, August 20, 2024, on her thesis entitled:
\n“The effectiveness of filtration systems for tap water in homes in removing microplastic particles”
\nThe discussion committee was headed by Professor Dr. Ibtihaj Zaki Suleiman and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Yusra Majeed Shihab Al-Shaker and Lecturer Dr. Suhair Munir Daoud and the membership and supervision of Professor Dr. Qusay Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi and Lecturer Dr. Rasha Khaled Sabry.<\/p>\n

The study included evaluating the efficiency of removing microplastic particles from household water purification devices collected from different areas of the city of Mosul.
\nThe study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of water cooler filter systems in removing microplastic particles and to evaluate the efficiency of home reverse osmosis filter systems in removing plastic particles in different areas of Mosul city.<\/p>\n

The study recommended conducting periodic studies and tests of drinking water by the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and suitability of drinking water for human consumption and to study the health effects of plastic particles on human health. It also recommended reducing the dispersion of plastic particles in raw water sources such as (rivers, lakes and groundwater).<\/p>\n

The Dean of the College, Dr. Yusra Majeed Al-Shaker, presented a certificate of thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ibtihaj Zaki Suleiman for her attendance and participation in the discussion.<\/p>\n
