The Sustainable Food Security Course continues on its third day, Tuesday, April 29.<\/p>\n

Today’s lectures opened with a lecture by Assistant Lecturer Nada Taher Younis, titled “Food Self-Sufficiency: Reality and the Future… Challenges of Water and Agricultural Land.” She addressed the most prominent challenges facing food systems, primarily population growth, climate change, and the scarcity of natural resources, particularly water and arable land. The lecturer emphasized the need for urgent and sustainable measures to ensure the needs of current and future generations are met and to achieve long-term food security.<\/p>\n

In the second lecture, Assistant Lecturer Reem Nawzat Ahmed gave a presentation titled “Food Security Between Wars… Protecting Civilians from Hunger.” She addressed the catastrophic impact of armed conflict on food security. Wars destroy infrastructure and diminish the ability to produce and provide food, exacerbating the suffering of civilians due to hunger, rising prices, and deteriorating health conditions. The lecture emphasized the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring food aid reaches them, as this is a fundamental humanitarian responsibility to prevent crises and disasters.<\/p>\n
