As part of its awareness-raising activities, the Environmental Research Center at the University of Mosul held an awareness-raising workshop entitled “Women’s Role in Electoral Participation and the Impact of Their Voting on Decision-Making” on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.<\/p>\n

The workshop was presented by Professor Dr. Alaa Abdullah Hussein from the College of Tourism Sciences.<\/p>\n

It addressed the most prominent challenges facing women in accessing the ballot box, ways to empower them politically, and enhance their active participation in the electoral process.<\/p>\n

The workshop addressed the importance of raising community awareness of the role of women in elections as a key partner in building state institutions and decision-making, emphasizing the connection between these efforts and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 (Gender Equality) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).<\/p>\n

This workshop is part of a series of activities implemented by the Center to support community empowerment programs and consolidate the concepts of citizenship and democratic participation within and outside the university community.<\/p>\n
