\nThe Mosul Studies Center, in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning \u2013 Sustainable Development Unit\/Presidency of the University of Mosul, held its 66th scientific symposium entitled:
\nEconomic Conditions in Mosul Throughout History
\nSunday, January 11, 2026
\nAt the Scientific and Literary Forum \/ University of Mosul
\n9:30 AM
\nThe symposium included a speech by the Preparatory Committee
\nand the opening lecture entitled “Iron Industries in Mosul 4th-8th Centuries AH,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Nizar Al-Dabbagh, Director of the Mosul Studies Center. This was followed by the presentation of 16 scientific papers, distributed across two scientific sessions, which discussed in detail various research papers related to the symposium’s topic in the ancient, Islamic, and modern economic history of Mosul. These papers were presented by professors from the College of Arts, Department of History, the Oriental Studies Unit, and the College of Education for Humanities – Department of Syriac Language, in addition to The Mosul Studies Center hosted a symposium attended by directors of research and humanities centers, along with some of their teaching staff, including representatives from the Regional Studies Center, the Remote Sensing Center, and the Dryland and Conservation Agriculture Research Center. Postgraduate students and Mosul researchers, such as Professor Mohammed Tawfiq Al-Fakhri and Engineer Fares Abdul-Sattar, were also present. The symposium concluded with the reading of recommendations by Dr. Ali Ahmed Al-Obaidi, Head of the Department of Literary Studies and Documentation at the Center, and the distribution of participation certificates to the researchers. These recommendations aim to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goals 1, 2, 8, 9, and 11.<\/p>\n
