In the presence of the Dean of the College of Nursing, Assistant Professor Dr. Tahseen Mohsen Hussein, the master\u2019s thesis defense of the student Mohammed Ali Wahib was held today, Tuesday, June 24, 2025, for his thesis entitled:
\n“Protection Motivation Theory on the Preventive Behaviors of Hospital Nurses Exposed to Radiation: A Randomized Controlled Trial.”<\/p>\n

This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of applying the Protection Motivation Theory in promoting preventive behaviors among hospital nurses exposed to radiation. The research focused on assessing the level of knowledge and awareness regarding radiation hazards among nurses before and after implementing the educational intervention. It also sought to strengthen the nurses\u2019 motivation to adopt preventive behaviors in their daily professional duties and to measure the impact of the training program based on this theory in improving their compliance with radiation protection practices. Furthermore, the study explored the relationship between the concepts of the theory\u2014such as perceived severity, perceived vulnerability, self-efficacy, and protective response\u2014and the actual preventive behaviors of the nurses. The research concluded with recommendations to develop preventive training programs within healthcare institutions to enhance the safety of nursing staff and improve the occupational health environment.<\/p>\n

The discussion committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Mustafa from Hawler Medical University \/ College of Nursing, and its members included:<\/p>\n

Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Mohammed Ahmed \u2013 College of Nursing \/ University of Mosul<\/p>\n

Assistant Professor Rami Ramadan Alou \u2013 College of Nursing \/ University of Mosul<\/p>\n

Additionally, Professor Dr. Nasr Mowafaq Younis from the College of Nursing \/ University of Mosul participated as a member and supervisor. His significant contribution and academic guidance played a vital role throughout all stages of the thesis preparation.<\/p>\n

The defense session witnessed a rigorous scientific discussion and a rich exchange of ideas. The committee provided several constructive observations, contributing to enhancing the quality and outcomes of the research.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the discussion, the student was awarded a Master\u2019s degree in Nursing Sciences after successfully completing the required modifications suggested by the committee.<\/p>\n
